Zen is the practice of realizing our lives fully.
This one-night residential silent retreat, for those who identify as women, is an opportunity to learn about Zen meditation in the tradition of Soto Zen. We will spend our time in silent sitting meditation and walking meditation, with opportunities to share our experience with the teacher and with fellow students. Care will be taken to assist beginners in settling into the silence that is all too rare in our busy lives.
DATE: November 22 Friday evening through Saturday evening November 23
LOCATION: Wellspring Conference Center, 11411 Neelsville Church Road, Germantown MD 20876, off of I-270 and Route 118.
COST: $135 includes private room, 4 healthy meals, shared bathroom, wooded surroundings for walks. Discounted option for a shared room with twin beds for $95 each person.

Led by Zen teacher Sensei Martine Palmiter, we will be practicing silent sitting, walking silent meditation, and tea practice, as well as using our voices for chant practice, some yoga stretching, and learning Zen stories and poems about women ancestors. We will learn to use open awareness to pay attention to our bodies, hearts and minds for uncover our innate wisdom.
SCHEDULE: Arrive Friday between 4-5:30 p.m. to check-in and settle in your private (or shared) room; dinner with conversation at 5:30 p.m. . Program will start at 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wake up/coffee/tea time is 6:00 a.m. with Saturday’s program to begin at 6:30 a.m. The retreat ends with a brief ceremony and a closing dinner with conversation.
